Adrian Beltre #29
In his 19th season of Major League Baseball, there might not be another player more fun to watch on a daily basis than the fun-spirited Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre. Today, as usual, Beltre was having a great time on the field and at the plate. On the field, Beltre showed good judgement and athleticism while flailing his arms on a slow chopper hit down the third-base line by Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon in the top of the third inning. The ball eventually did go foul. At the plate, with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning at Globe Life Park, Beltre lifted his team with a clutch two-run go-ahead single off Rockies reliever Adam Ottavino for a 5-4 Rangers lead, which held up for the win.
QUOTE: “It seems like every time he gets in those situations, he comes through. He’s our leader, on and off the field,” Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland said, about Beltre.
FACT: Beltre now has 1,537 RBIs for his career, tied with Joe DiMaggio for 47th place all-time.
