Robinson Cano #22
After being shut out all night by David Price and the Boston Red Sox, the Seattle Mariners, trailing 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, mounted a comeback by stringing together four consecutive hits to start the inning, and one batter later, Robinson Cano launched a clutch three-run homer capping a five-run outburst, and eventual 5-4 victory at Safeco Field. Contributing to the team's win was Seattle rookie outfielder Guillermo Heredia, who notched his first career hit and RBI in the five-run 8th inning.
QUOTE: "You've seen it for a long time. He's a pretty special player. That was pretty impressive," Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia said of Cano. "You are facing, I would say, one of the best lefties in the game who was under control until that inning," Cano said of Price.
FACT: Robinson Cano is now the fourth player in MLB history with 50+ extra base hits in each of his first 12 seasons. The others are Albert Pujols, Carlos Lee, and Eddie Mathews.
