New York Yankees
Starlin Castro #14
On a night that started with emotion (Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira announcing retirement) and then led to fun for the fans with the scheduled celebration of Star Wars night at Yankee Stadium, the starry night got much, much better for the fans when New York Yankees star infielder Starlin Castro provided the night?s big blow by hitting his first career grand slam off Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin. Castro's grand slam opened up a 6-0 lead in the third inning. The Yankees won the "star-filled" game, 13-7.
QUOTE: "I think that that's the team that we are. If we can work together like that, we can score a lot of runs. Not every time is going to be good, but I think that we've got a really good team to kind of do that," Castro said, about the team's offensive capability.
FACT: Castro holds the all-time record for the most RBI in a MLB debut with six. On May 7, 2010 in Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park, Castro, with the Chicago Cubs, hit a three-run home run in his first MLB at-bat, and later followed with a bases-loaded triple.
