David Dahl #26
In the top of the first inning at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, against the Texas Rangers, rookie Colorado Rockies outfielder David Dahl singled off Rangers starting right-handed pitcher Lucas Harrell to extend his career-beginning hit streak to 17 games. The historic hit ties Dahl with third baseman Chuck Aleno of the 1941 Cincinnati Reds for the longest hit streak to begin an MLB career. Dahl, a first-round Rockies draft pick in 2012, finished the game 1-for-4 with a run and RBI helping Colorado to a 12-9 win over Texas.
QUOTE: “It’s pretty cool. I really haven’t thought much about it, besides looking on Twitter, said Dahl.
FACT: In limited action, Chuck Aleno finished the 1941 season batting .243, 41-for-169 in only 54 games played.
