Rajai Davis #20 & Jose Ramirez #11
The 27,014 fans that attended the Cleveland Indians home game at Progressive Field versus the visiting Los Angeles Angels witnessed a game that will forever be remembered for not only the hitting onslaught (Indians won 13-2), but also for the crafty base stealing. Veteran Indians center fielder Rajai Davis (one hit, two walks) and third baseman Jose Ramirez (three hits, HR, two RBIs) led the way on the base paths with three steals apiece. Cleveland second baseman Jason Kipnis (four hits, two RBIs) and shortstop Francisco Lindor (three hits, two RBIs) each chipped in with one stolen base each. Cleveland left fielder Brandon Guyer (three hits, HR, five RBIs) had a huge day at the plate.
FACT: The team’s eight stolen bases ties the franchise record. Davis and Ramirez became the first Indians teammates to steal at least three bases apiece in the same game. That feat has only been accomplished 23 times in the Majors since 1913. Davis is the first Indians player 35 years or older to steal 30 bases in a season, and he is the first Major Leaguer to achieve the feat since Ichiro Suzuki in 2011. Cleveland leads the AL with 92 stolen bases this year, and Davis leads the AL with 31 steals.
