Chicago White Sox
Charlie Tilson #24
Chicago White Sox rookie outfielder Charlie Tilson singled for his first Major League hit in his first career MLB at-bat against Detroit Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez. Leading off the third inning at Detroit's Comerica Park, Tilson hit an 0-1 pitch for a sharp grounder to center fielder Cameron Maybin. Playing center field in his debut, Tilson finished the day 1-for-2 at the plate, and had to leave the game early when he suffered a season-ending injury (torn left hamstring) in the fifth inning chasing down Miguel Cabrera's fly ball.
QUOTE: "Tough go at it for him, that's not how you picture your debut to go. But in the same token, he left us with a good impression. I thought he ran really well and got the hit there in his first at-bat. Hopefully he can heal up and be ready for Spring Training," Teammate Adam Eaton said.
FACT: The 23-year old Tilson is a native of Wilmette, Illinois, and is thrilled to come back home and play for the team he rooted for growing up.
