Anthony Rizzo #44

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning, Chicago Cubs All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo won the hard-fought, tooth-and-nail game 4-3 for the Cubs at Wrigley Field with a walk-off walk by taking a close controversial ball four on an inside pitch thrown by St. Louis Cardinals reliever Zach Duke. Earlier, in the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs and trailing 2-0, Cubs left-fielder Chris Coghlan singled in two runs on an emergency swing after requesting time and not getting it by home-plate umpire Ron Kulpa and then the very next batter, catcher David Ross, placed a perfect surprise bunt for an infield single, driving in the third run of the inning for a 3-2 Cubs lead. In the top of the 7th inning, to preserve the 3-3 tie, the Cubs made a perfect relay (Coghlan to shortstop Anthony Russell to Ross) to nab Matt Carpenter at home plate for the third out, who was racing from first on a Stephen Piscotty double. The win for the Cubs was their 10th straight.
